Mediation Skills Training
Mediators are supported with professional industry-standard trainings, side-by-side coaching, and ongoing continuing education.
Community Mediators are qualified by taking a Basic Mediation Training that aligns with Resolution Oregon statewide standards. Trainings are offered in-person, and in virtual formats at all Community Centers.
Emerging mediators hone their skills through practice, mentorship, and direct experience. Practicums and apprenticeships are supported learning environments while helping resolve real disputes.
Community Mediators help people in neighbor-to-neighbor disputes, restorative justice circles, housing issues, eviction prevention and family reunification facilitations. They carry their learned skills throughout their life.

Foundational Skills
No formal education is required prior to taking a Basic Mediation Training and serving as a Community Mediator. Mediators are welcomed into a learning community to advance their skills and respond to the needs of their community. Taking trainings at Community Resolution Centers opens up opportunities for practice in real cases.

Graduates of the Basic Mediation Training can serve in paid and pro bono mediator positions where they help neighbors resolve housing, family, neighbor to neighbor, and workplace disputes.
Emerging mediators are strongly encouraged to seek mentorship opportunities that will enrich their engagement and improve their skills.
